Kolkata, Feb 3 (IBNS): Indian pioneers in the biscuit and confectionary manufacturing segment, Parle Products on Monday announced the 13th edition of Parle Saraswati Vandana to be celebrated in here.
Organized every year during Saraswati Puja, its objective is to reach out to children by organizing a competition for students and encourage creativity.
This year, Parle Products Ltd. will invite over 650 schools from cities like Kolkata, Howrah, Siliguri, Durgapur, Asansol, Kharaghpur, Midnapore, Serampore, Chinsura, Chandannagar, Baruipir, Belghoria, Madhyamgram, Barrackpore, Burdwan, Bolpur, Krishnanagar, Behrampur, Malda, Ranaghat, and Raigunj.
The programme involves rewarding the most creative ways that schools pay tribute to Goddess Saraswati.
Speaking about the initiative, Bhavin Panchamia, Product Manager, Parle Products said, “With this initiative we intend to encourage children to learn and honour traditional festivals. We have witnessed a growing interest and participation from schools in West Bengal over the years and in our 13th year, we aim to scale higher.”
After the festival, a chosen panel of judges that are specialist in their respective fields, will select the best entries and felicitate them with awards.
The 1st prize being Rs. 30,000, two 2nd prizes for Rs. 15,000 each, five 3rd prizes at Rs. 10,000 each, 25 consolation prizes for Rs. 3,000 and 27 special prizes.
Parle will also conduct a magazine competition where students will be given topics to write about.
The judges will visit all the participating schools and select winners on various aspects of the Puja based on creativity and originality viz. pandal décor, idol, crowd, ambiance, discipline, devotion, decoration, craft work and the overall appeal of the Puja.
