Kolkata, Nov 19 (IBNS): The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group Monday marked the birth anniversary of founder chairman Late Lalit Suri with a 'puja' at the iconic The Great Eastern hotel, here.
The Great Eastern Hotel is currently under extensive restoration process. The historic property has been a landmark in Kolkata for the last 171 years and is the oldest hotel in India, informed officials.
"It is a beautiful coincidence that The Great Eastern Kolkata (then named the Auckland hotel after the British governor general) also opened its doors for the first time on Nov 19, 1841," officials said.
