Kolkata, Oct 18 (IBNS): American Chamber of Commerce in India (AMCHAM) organised a panel discussion on 'Public Private Partnership : The Right Governance Model' here, as part of its Corporate Governance Series.
mbassador Ronen Sen, IFS (envoy to many countries including the US), Chairman of Goldman Sachs India Sanjoy Chatterjee, CEO of Bengal Aeotropolis Projects Ltd, Senior Partner of KPMG Advisory Services Jaideep Ghosh, Chairman of West Bengal Small Industries Development Corporation Col. Sabyasachi Bagchi were present there as panelists.
Chairman and Chief Mentor of The Strategy Academy, Professor of Strategic Management of IIM, Calcutta Professor Ranjan Das was present as a moderator.
One of the panelists said, "Public-Private Partnership (PPP) is an economic model accepted by many countries of the world. It is a combination of public sector governance with private sector efficiencies."
"With the welcome of liberalization in India in the 90's the model that emerged as the best suited to meet the growing demands is the Public Private Partnership."
AMCHAM official asserted, "The US is a good example where many states have enacted legislations to enable private sector participation in infrastructure projects."
"As AMCHAM is associated with American Company, having its existence in India, its seminar will help in getting input on the American experience in PPP and, on the other hand provide clarity to potential investors both in small and large scale industries."
