Vodafone displays McLaren F1 car in Kolkata

Kolkata, Oct 12 (IBNS): Cellphone operator Vodafone India on Friday showcased the exact replica of Vodafone McLaren Mercedes racing car driven by racing stars Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button, at the South City Mall in Kolkata.




The replica car was displayed at DLF IT Park on Oct 10 and Salt Lake Sector V on Oct 11, informed Vodafone officials.

"It will next be showcased at Diamond City Mall, Nagerbazar on Oct 13 and at Avani Mall on Oct 14, 2012," asserted officials.

Commenting on the initiative Business Head – Kolkata and West Bengal, Vodafone India, Saurav Mukherjee said, “Leveraging our global association, we are proud to bring the exact replica of the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes racing car to our customers in Kolkata."

"Vodafone is always on the lookout for avenues to create and provide a fun and differentiated experience for our customers and this initiative is in line with our customer connect program in Kolkata."

Mukherjee added, "We expect that this initiative will provide an opportunity for motor racing enthusiasts to get up close and personal with the car."

He said that as racing enthusiasts in Kolkata are gearing up for the second season of the much awaited motor racing event, to be held in the National Capital Region from Oct 26-28, 2012, they get an exclusive chance to see and take photographs with the car.

Mukherjee asserted, "The average speed of the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes racing car is 246 km per hour, while it can attain a speed from 0 to 96 km in just 2.3 seconds."

The Business Head added, "Additionally, Vodafone India in order to make significant inroads into the small and medium business community and to give them a platform for an easier path of growth, had announced the launch of the second season of the Vodafone Drive into the Big League in July 2012."

"This initiative gives one lucky SME, the opportunity to take center stage with their logo on the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes cars at the 2nd Indian Grand Prix."

"The city qualifiers have been conducted across ten locations in India and the Grand Finale with 21 finalists, out of 300,000 entries received, is currently taking place and the winner will be announced days before the motor-racing weekend in New Delhi, in October 2012," he said.
