MUMBAI: Here comes a new Shah Rukh Khan. The Bollywood superstar is in a new avatar in his forthcoming release “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi”.
The Bollywood superstar who has mostly played the young romantic lead in over 60 films, stretching over two decades, will be basing his character on a middle-aged man he met while hosting a popular TV game show.
In “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi”, Khan will not be seen in his fitted designer outfits, and will instead play a bespectacled government employee in ill-fitting trousers, media reports said.
”I want to play the exact opposite of Raj and Rahul, the romantic hero that I have played all these days. I want to show that it is special to be ordinary, which is why I am doing this film,” he said.
On Shah Rukh Khan's 43rd birthday the other day, Yash Raj Films decided to unveil the first promo of Aditya Chopra's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. SRK's new look has been generating a lot of curiosity ever since the first stills of the film were showcased in front of the media.
Rab Ne...has music by Salim-Suleiman and song Haule Haule is a light hearted number with SRK dancing around in the streets of North India.
Khan said the character was inspired by a “sweet, unassuming” contestant he met last year on the set of "Kaun Banega Crorepati", the Indian version of the worldwide hit TV gameshow, “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire”.
The movie, helmed by Aditya Chopra, will have Khan in double-role duty. The second character that Khan plays is also inspired by a gameshow contestant, this time, from “Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?”, the Indian version of America's “Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?”.
“Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” opens in cinemas across India in December.
