Kolkata, Apr 4 (IBNS): Iron and steel maker Shricon on Wednesday announced Bengali film actor Dev as the brand ambassador for its TMT Bars.
Shricon Managing Director A.C. Gupta, along with his team, was present at the event.
“Basically I am very choosy. I am very particular about the brands that I endorse. So when they approached me, I asked Gupta why me? He said there is only one person from Midnapore who has the value to sell," said Dev.
“I really liked their idea. I was inspired by their corporate mentality and impressed by their approach,” he said.
Gupta said: “West Bengal is a major market for Shricon. To connect with the IHB segment, the company has decided to tie-up with one of the greatest names in the contemporary Bengali cinema.”
“Dev embodies all the values that Shricon stands for – success, strength, modernism and most importantly an enduring attitude,” he added.
When asked to Dev about the attributes he shares with the brand, he said: “In most of the houses this steel is found because of their strength to stand and support in any condition.”
“Like them, I too believe in one principle that whatever the situation is, stand for yourself. Don’t break down; the willpower has to be strong. The attitude towards life is important,” said the actor.
A high-decibel campaign is on the anvil which will be launched mainly through leading newspapers and outdoor and later, radio and television.
Dev will not only appear in the communication but will be visiting the important upcountry dealers.
He revealed that he will be signing a new brand but he refrained from giving details.
In the meantime, when asked Dev about the present development of his upcoming rom-com Paglu 2, he said: “The Indian portion is ready. We will fly to Dubai just to shoot the fight sequences with the real stuntmen in the real locations.”
“Paglu 2 is better than Paglu. I personally didn’t like Paglu much as it didn’t have much story to tell. But yes, Paglu 2 has a very good story line,” he added.
Commenting on the Bengali New Year which is round the corner, Dev said: “I like both Bengali New Year as well as 31st night. Bengali New Year is for family and 31st night is for friends."
